After Your Baby's Birth

When your baby arrives, your new life as a parent begins. Before you jump into this new responsibility, take care of yourself so you're in the best shape possible.
Your doctor and the nurses at the hospital will have good advice and suggestions to help you recover and begin the task of taking care of your baby. Ask questions about anything you are curious about. If you decide to breastfeed, you may not know exactly how to start. Ask for the nurses'help; they've had lots of experience helping new moms get started.
If you have questions about the care of your newborn, don't hold backā€”ask before you leave the hospital. Take advantage of all the people there who can help you.
When you get home, take it easy! You need time to recover and to get back on your feet. Your partner can be a great help in this. It may take a little time to work out a schedule or divide up duties, but by working together, you will be surprised how quickly things will fall into place.
