Pregnancy Questions and Answers

Question:
I heard on the radio that some researchers are trying to develop a test that will predict Down syndrome from a pregnant woman's urine. Do you know anything about this?
Answer:
Work is being done to develop a urine screen for Down syndrome. This test will measure urinary gonadotropin (UGD) in a pregnant woman's urine during the second trimester. The test is still experimental and requires more study.
